Although the big reveal toward the end wasn't much of a shock - good stuff though. It flows better since all of the background is out of the way and you can catch some glimpses into what happen next for Maisie, but not quite. " This book is better than the first one. There are some implausible elements to the plot (I feel like there were a couple of points where the author was taking the easy way out).but I couldn't put this book down. " Not a big mystery reader, but I find these Maisie Dobbs books truly charming. Another good whodunit set against the England-still-reeling-from-the-Great-War background. " Book 2 in the Masie Dobbs series - enjoying this character! " - Anita, And there's another potential suitor thrown into the mix, so we've got a little bit of romance added to a good mystery. Maisie takes on the case of a missing person, while doing her best to "fix" the lives of those with whom she comes in contact.
